Nature Valentines

February 10, 2021

Swapping Valentines is always such a fun experience for kids, young and old. This year at our forest schools, we’ve all been creating handmade nature themed Valentines to share with friends.

The kids have loved coming up with different ideas of things they can make and collect. The results are going to be a surprise. But in the meantime; we wanted to show off these cute Valentines we came up with.

They turned out great and we’re so simple. Have your kids collect rocks, leaves, granite, and mushrooms on a nature hike. They will love to swap these with their friends. Once you get home, let their creativity go wild decorating their treasures. Then attach their finds to these cute printable Valentine cards we designed.

The possibilities are endless but here’s a few simple ideas for you guys.

Leaf Ideas: paint them, thread them, or just hunt for heart shaped leaves like we did and attach them to the cards with glue

Rock Ideas: paint them (that’s what we did in the photo above) decorate them with sharpies, make them into people using yarn and googly eyes, or just tie them to the card

Mushroom Ideas: make a spore print on the cards, paint them, or just simply glue dried mushrooms down

We would love to see what you come up with too if you decide to use these, please share your ideas!
