What Homeschooling is Like for Me

Homeschooling is a way of learning without going to a physicalschool. Instead, like the name suggests, you learn at home! Though sometimes we attended educational programs.

Lots of kids go to public school. For most people, this is a good way to learn. Some people homeschool because the way public school teaches does not work for them. Others do it because they don’t want to be cooped up in a classroom for 8 hours a day. I attended public school for about six months. My reading capability dropped, and I wasn’t learning much. With homeschooling we learn in just a few hours, what public schoolers learn in a day.

If I was given the option to keep homeschooling or to go to public school, I would say homeschool before you could even finish the question. I have a couple of reasons.

1. I get to spend a lot my time with my family thanks to homeschooling.

2. I get to try lots of new things.

These are just two reasons, but there’s many more good things about homeschooling.

We get to try lots of things, even forest schools. So far we have done 3! Barefoot is one of them.

Barefoot goes on for a total of 36 weeks. During that time we learn about: Sound, strategy, taste, music, trees, and sun.

So far my favorite week has been Strategy. We got to use walkie talkies and play lots of games with them, like Capture The Flag. I also enjoyed Mud. We made faces on trees with mud. I made a happy face with a stick smile and rock eyes. Obstacles was definitely one of my favorites as well.

I love homeschooling! It’s super cool because we learn and have fun. We try all kinds of things, such as going to school for the day in a historical schoolhouse, looking at art at museums, and riding an old trolley at the National Capital Trolley Museum. We have lots of free time where I can spend time outside and having fun with my friends. Where have you gotten to visit thanks to homeschooling? Do you do any Co-ops? Do you like homeschooling, too?
